Introduction to Glucose-Charter™

Glucose-Charter™ is a blood glucose recording tool installed on your iPhone. But more than that, with its unique food database it will assist you to make informed dietary choices.

Approximately 17 million people in the United States, or 6.2 percent of the population, have diabetes. While an estimated 11. 1 million have been diagnosed, unfortunately, 5.9 million are unaware that they have the disease.

For the person with diabetes there may be future treatments that will reduce the impact of the disease and possibly even prevent its onset.  For right now, however, treatment with the goal of reducing diabetes related organ damage, is the best and only avenue.

For those with Diabetes, treatment will largely be dictated by the whether it is Type I or Type 2, your level of existing insulin production, if any, and of course the treatment modality that is indicated and elected by you and your doctor.  While it is imperative for you to follow whatever treatment program that is prescribed, the best results will also come to those who are active participants in their own care.

Glucose-Charter™ was developed to provide you with self-monitoring & logging your blood glucose, food guidance and to reinforce the positive benefits of frequent exercise.  In using the Glucose-Charter™ program you will find an extensive food database that presents several different means for evaluating the foods you choose to eat.  The program will log all these foods and is designed to remember your "favorite foods".  The unique Glucose-Charter™ food information display will make eating decisions much easier and provide you and your doctor with the needed record keeping to maximize the benefits of your ongoing treatment.

New features in version 3 include the setup and recording of Insulin and other medications. These are summarised in an output table and are now included with the blood glucose and BMI report to doctor introduced in version 2. This diary feature better serves those Type 1 diabetics and those who are on a mixed treatment plan, eg oral and injected.

BMI.
This chart indicates your calculated body-mass index. This international scale is used to determine whether an adult person of average fitness is underweight below 18.5, normal 18.5 to 25, overweight 25 to 30, or Obese above 30. Note: highly muscular athletes show as being overweight when clearly the majority of their body mass is muscle.
The desired range for most people is Normal however Overweight is acceptable as well, it will require more discipline when selecting foods and foods with high glycemic loads and diets with high calorie intakes should be avoided.
Underweight is also concerning and may indicate other medical problems, we strongly advise consulting professional medical advice if you fall into this category.
